| Study Group Teaching Method Description:
Don’t let the teaching of writing intimidate you anymore! Discover the various tools and strategies that are necessary in successfully implementing a writing workshop in the classroom. Study Group members will master the main components of the workshop lesson, will learn how to create effective writing centers, and will practice honing their skills in teaching the writing process. Teaching writing can be quite intimidating; however, this approach excites teachers and students alike about the notion of putting pen to paper.
Writing workshops incorporate all components of the writing process and encourage teachers to create mobile writing centers for students to use. These writing centers will contain all the tools students need to be successful in their writing craft, and in addition to providing materials, this Study Group will teach its members how to properly format the workshop. In addition to learning the workshop method, teachers will also hone their skills in developing mini-lessons for prewriting, drafting, conferencing, revising, and editing.
